Who told you caffeine is harmless to your health?

Take a journey with Susan Lynn, whose caffeine addiction has nearly ruined her health. This book was born out of her struggle to discover why after thirty-nine years of enjoying colas, tea, and chocolate--problem-free--she began suffering severe pain and bleeding internally after consuming any product containing even the least fleck of caffeine.

In this book, she recounts her life and work in the 90s as the Safety Director to a general contractor in the high-stress, male-dominated world of high-risk construction. Follow her afterwards as she lives the never-ending misery of the long-term effects of caffeine and stress and her unending struggle to locate a physician who can adequately care for her.

Read this invaluable book and discover

1. The secret destructive power of caffeine.
2. How stress and caffeine hurt you.
3. How caffeine can affect your immune and gastrointestinal system.
4. How our culture brainwashed us to consume a drug daily.
5. Five reasons to avoid colas, coffee, tea, chocolate, and energy drinks.

Caffeine Makes Me Bleed And How It Can Poison You Too! edition by Susan Lynn Health Fitness Dieting eBooks

I bought this book on Kindle because the title seemed to imply that its focus was the negative health effects of caffeine. The description not only implied it; it explicitly stated that this book was all about how caffeine can ruin your health. Well, I've finished about a quarter of the book so far, and I've read hardly anything about caffeine. Instead, I've read an autobiography of the author, and a brief history of Northeast Ohio's Rust Belt. Every five or ten pages the author will mention liking coffee or caffeinated soda in her younger days. I guess this was done to show that she has used caffeine all her life. But this could've been done in one page; it wasn't necessary to take up a quarter of the book with it. There may be some interesting or useful information about the negative health effects of caffeine, but I don't know. After reading one fourth of the book, which had zero to do with the title, I finally decided I'd wasted enough time and quit reading. If you do buy this book, skip the first 25%. You'll be glad you did.

Caffeine Makes Me Bleed And How It Can Poison You Too! edition by Susan Lynn Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews

A fresh voice speaks out about the potential hazards of a common (perhaps too common) ingredient in many of our daily diets. Not only a fresh voice but (another plus) a nonprofessional one. Instead of the dry language and medical facts I would expect to find in such a book, I was presented with (and touched by) a well written and easy to read personal account of a typical life that was drastically changed by the effects of caffeine.

Having grown up in a Blue-collar family with Blue-collar neighbors and schoolmates, I easily related to many of the anecdotes from Ms. Lynn's childhood. Those of us who grew up in the late 1950's and early 1960's trusted our diets to Mom, the School board and Saturday morning TV.

Not everyone will experience the extent of ailments and physical suffering as Ms. Lynn has but not all smokers develop lung cancer. Have I totally given up caffeine? Honestly, no. But I have become more aware of foods and drinks that contain it and hopefully am making more informed and wiser choices.

Thank you Susan Lynn for an informative book and a good read.
This anecdotal horror story should make all of us wake up and smell the coffee. As if the 70 million people who suffer from GERD (gastrointestinal reflux disease) weren't enough to make readers shudder and question the road they're on with their occasional heartburn, there's also the potential for ulcers, lower GI tract bleeding and hemorrhoids, plus developing inhalation allergy, or sensitivity to scents, all attributable to our coffee culture.

Largely autobiographical, Susan Lynn's tale of trying to deal with her mounting stress through caffeine and sugar makes for a compelling read. I found it particularly interesting to learn where caffeine hides, in even "natural" and "organic" foods such as chocolate and guarana. I could give up coffee and caffeinated sodas without any heartache, but chocolate? Yet if I faced the (literally) agonizing choice of having to sacrifice chocolate if I wanted to live, as the author did, I would hope to face the decision with as much as much dignity and determination as she exhibits in this book.

(Disclaimer I received a free evaluation copy as a judge for the 2011 Global e-Book Awards.)
Susan Lynn's book is not a medical reference book, but rather an account of one woman's roller coaster ride with caffeine and the construction trade, starting in the recessive 1980s. Any of us over forty can probably relate to the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants and run on adrenaline routine to get through work and home life. The caffeine habit was there for the ride, making the trip even crazier. The late nights, the accidents and even the deaths. All of that was part of the adrenalin-driven culture fueled by nicotine, alcohol, marijuana and, of course, caffeine.

I laughed at the parts about the crazy co-workers and the insane company policies.

Not a feel-good or how-to book. But, a vital message to a society where athletes and soldiers guzzle caffeine-laced "energy" drinks, university dietetic students gulp down caffeinated soft drinks and 12-year-old children line up at over-priced, specialty coffee shops. Might be time to wake up and (pardon the pun) smell the coffee.
not what i expected. more like a personal biography than a book on the dangers of Caffeine. I would not recommend it.
I tried to cut down my coffee intake and stumbled upon this book on . After reading this book, I am even more convinced about the damaging effects of over consumption of coffee/caffeinated beverages. This book is recommended for everyone who is looking to cut down caffeine intake.
